BILLERICAY V FAIRWOOD TOP CLUB MATCH 14TH MAY 2022
The weather was perfect , our supporters confident and the atmosphere was right for our first Ladies' match.
We started the match with high hopes but soon realised we we up against a skilled
opposition. Everyone played their best on the day but we were beaten on 3 of the four rinks.
However even the opposing Ladies' captain admitted the scores did not reflect the quality of our play.
We did however offer a splendid lunch thanks to those who provided the food and to Edith and Sandra
who did did a champion job setting it all out.
We also have to thank Siobhan and Tony B for being our 'Tea Ladies' who were only at the club for a practise session!
Singles: Val lost 17-22
Pairs : Michelle, Lynn lost 13-26
Triples: Gill, Carol, Pam lost 7-26
Rinks: Jean, Catherine, Christine, Jenny WON 16-13
Ladies' Championship Triples
Michelle , Gill and Lynn were drawn against a strong team from Stock. Despite a concentrated effort from our players we were comprehensively defeated 7-23. Thanks to Gill for standing in for Jean who was unfit to play due the dreaded aftermath of Covid. Senior Fours here we come !
Ladies' Unbadged Pairs 2nd Round
Michelle and Lynn were drawn against 2 ladies from Runwell. Despite leading at the 11th end they were beaten 17-20 . However a small consolation was that they won 12 of the 21 ends
Ladies' Pairs- Basildon and District competition
Michelle and Lynn were drawn against a Springhouse ladies' pairs who both have bowled for Essex county.
Enthusiasm was higher than optimism but to our surprise we were only narrowly beaten 21-24 on points but actually won 11-10 on ends.
Ladies' Unbadged Pairs
Michelle and Lynn were drawn once again against the ladies from Corringham and Fobbing. Having been beaten last year they got revenge and won 23-13. They meet the ladies from Runwell in the second round.
