Recruitment

We try to arrange an 'Open Day' each year to encourage people to come and have a go at bowling.
The sessions on the day are free, as are follow up coaching sessions for those that want to get more experience.

Our Open Day provides the opportunity for people to find out what lawn bowls is all about - fresh air, exercise, skills, fun and social interaction.

Our 2024 Open Day will be on SUNDAY 5th May

Whether attendees are completely new to the sport or just a bit rusty, the day offers the chance to enjoy doing something a bit different.

On the day, bowls (woods) will be supplied and the only ‘must’ is to come equipped with flat-soled shoes or trainers.

Club members will be on hand to help cover the fundamentals of bowling and to help ensure that you enjoy your experience.

For those that want to take things further, up to four more sessions can be arranged, giving the opportunity to see whether membership of the club is the next step.

New members are allocated a 'buddy' to guide them through the early days and coaching by qualified coaches is available on a one to one basis.

The sociable club mornings then provide the opportunity to play friendly matches before, perhaps, joining a team and playing in various leagues within the area.

The Billericay Bowling Club is based in Lake Meadows Park and players of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us throughout the season.

During the Summer season (May to September) we play seven days a week, depending on the weather, so lots of opportunity to play regardless of whether you are retired, still working or even a student.

We have a large programme of friendly matches with other clubs, mainly in Essex, which tend to take place during afternoons. These are usually mixed teams.
Club mornings are held once a week and provide an introduction to match play in a friendly environment with no pressures.

The Club also plays League matches and currently has men's teams in the Chelmsford and District and the Brentwood and District Leagues. Mixed teams play in the Basildon and District League and the Central Mid-Week League.
All league matches are played in the evening.

During the Winter we play friendly indoor matches at various Indoor Centres.
