Stock Matches

Saturday 9th September 2023

The annual matches against Stock club resulted in an excellent win for our ladies but a disappointing loss for the men for the 8th year running.
A very hot sunny day, though rather slow green, was supported by an excellent buffet in the club house prior to the presentation of the trophies - the lovely glassware (see below) donated by Dawn Hutchison back in our ladies hands, whilst the mens Lifebuoy and strange wooden trophy was only in our clubhouse for the afternoon before returning to Stock.

Thank you club ladies, managed by Sandra Nichols and Penny Kirby, in providing the extensive buffet, with the drinks managed by Jim Collins, and our many helpers and especially mens reserve Steve Nichols
Many spectators and a great event towards the end of the season, but this time in amazing heat instead of the usual cooler conditions of September.

Ladies Stock Challenge

An overall win, 50-48 - two shots and the trophy.

Rink 1, Michelle Dixon, Sue Farmer, Gill Aggio and skip Lynn Martin, managed to avoid the mining bees but winning only 6 ends resulted in a 13-22 deficit.

Rink 2, Penny Kirby, Carol Phillips Loraine Colla and skip Jenny Hyland, started well with a 7 on the 2nd end, and dominated with long jacks winning 10 of the 18 ends to win 21-13.

Rink 3, Helen White, Wynn Phillips, Catherine Barrett and Jean Lawrence had a close game , 10 all on the 13th and triumphed in the last few ends to win 16-13.

Mens Lifebuoy

An overall loss 42-54, by 12 shots.

At half way (9 ends) Billericay were ahead overall by 14 shots,  but the second half loss of 26 shots showed the strength and consistency of Stocks bowlers.

Rink 4, Jon Bloomfield, David Barrett, Jim Collins and skip Gary Kendall, drew 18 all.

Rink 5 , Dave Aggio, Jeff Cassidy, Darren Steeles and skip Mark Willsmer, lost 13-17.

Rnk 6, John Friend, David Sarbutt, Norman Bunce and skip Brian Hyland lost, 11-19.
