Chelmer Ladies’ Report 18th August 2025

Billericay  v  Stock  AWAY

Team 1

Michelle Dixon, Sandra Nicols, Lynn Martin

A pleasant and cooler day to begin the game. Although Stock won the first end with four shots, Billericay played very well and won the next three ends to take them into the lead 8 – 4.  The game continued with very good play from both teams and the score continuing to be on a fairly even level. At the half way point Stock won three shots to take them into the lead but it didn’t last long and our ladies’ played really well winning 2 further shots. Stock were now only leading by 1. Billericay continued to play well but Stock had the edge and won the next  five ends. Score now 12 – 21. There were just three ends to play and Billericay gave it their all, winning 8 more shots! Unfortunately it was not quite enough.

Final Score: Billericay 20 - Stock 21

A challenging game but you never gave up and hung in there. Thank you.

 

Team 2

Catherine Barrett, Sue Farmer, Jean Lawrence

Billericay made a very good start scoring 1 on the second end, 7 on end four and a further 2 on end five to take them into the lead 10 – 3. The ladies’ kept their momentum and at the half way point we were leading 14 – 4. Stock came back scoring five more shots bringing the score now to 14 – 9 at end eleven and narrowing the gap. Billericay did not ease up, kept their momentum and continued to play excellent bowls and increasing their lead to 21 – 13. Stock could do little to stop us.  A further 3 shots to Billericay on the last three ends gave us a very deserving win.

Final Score: Billericay 24 – Stock 14

A brilliant game from you all ladies’. Very well done.

Chelmer Ladies’ Report 11th August 2025

Due to the hot weather it was agreed before the start of the game to play 12 ends.

Billericay v Ingatestone AWAY

Team 1: Michelle Dixon, Tracy Kinton, Lynn Martin

A very hot and sunny day and a slow start for Billericay as Ingatestone took the first three ends. We then settled into the game and won the next two ends taking us into the lead, 5 – 3.  Ingatestone came back to win the next end but Billericay were determined and played some very good shots  maintaining their lead by 7 shots at the ninth end. There were just three ends remaining which Ingatestone won to narrow the score but it was not enough.    

Final Score: Billericay 11 –  Ingatestone 9

What a game ladies very well done!

 

Team 2: Lorraine Colla, Jenny Hyland, Val Dalton

A good start for Billericay winning the first end. Ingatestone won the next five ends to go into the lead 2 – 9. Billericay needed to turned their game around and with very good play  that is exactly what they did. A score of 1 on end 7, 5 on end 8 and a further 3 on end 9 took them back into the lead  again, Billericay 11 – Ingatestone 9. Ingatestone retaliated on the tenth end with 3 more shots, now 11 – 12. Two more shots by Billericay on the 11th end, Billericay 13 – 12.  A tense last end and everything to play for but unfortunately it was not to be.

Final Score: Billericay 13 – Ingatestone 14

Chelmer Ladies Report 7th August 2025 Rescheduled from 16th July 2025

Billericay v Danbury AWAY

Team One: Sue Sarbutt, Wyn Phillips, Michelle Dixon

A lovely day and start with Billericay taking the lead with 10 shots after the first 4 ends. The game continued with Billericay keeping their lead and Danbury trying hard to catch up.  The scoring was consistent with mainly 1 or 2 shots per end and at half way through the game Billericay were still holding their lead 12 – 8. The team kept their focus and were playing very well with some extremely good shots. The score at the 15th end was 17 – 12 to Billericay. Three ends remaining and Billericay scored 2 more shots on the 16th end taking them to 19. The tension was palpable. Only 2 ends remaining and Danbury played very well scoring 5 more shots but it was not enough.

Final Score: Billericay 19 – Danbury 17

A great game played ladies. Very well done.

 

Team Two: Maureen Foster, Edith Smith, Lynn Martin

A good start for Billericay with 2 shots on the 1st end. The opposition went on to win the next 4 ends. The scoring continued to bounce from one team to the other and by the half way mark it was 4 – 9 to Danbury.  Billericay were determined and gained 4 shots on the 10th end and 5 shots on the 12th to go back into the lead by 3. A battle was on. Danbury had a running streak bringing the score to 13 – 17 with just 2 ends remaining. Billericay gave it their all but Danbury scored another 2 shots.

Final Score: Billericay 14 – Danbury 19

Chelmer Ladies’ Report 6th August 2025

Billericay  v Great Baddow HOME

Team One: Michelle Dixon, Edith Smith, Lynn Martin

A  pleasant warm day. Baddow ladies’ made a very good start and at the seventh end the score was 1 – 13 to them. Billericay began to find their game and won the next two ends to give them the boost they needed. They didn’t ease up and kept giving their all but Baddow were a long way ahead. Billericay won the last three ends adding a further 5 shots to their score but unfortunately it was not enough.

Final score: Billericay 9 – Gt Baddow 24

A difficult game ladies, but you never gave up.  Thank you.

 

Team Two: Sue Sarbutt, Christine Shrubb, Sue Farmer

A great start by Billericay scoring 6 shots on the first two ends to go into the lead. Baddow came back with 5 shots on the next end but Billericay were on fire and won a further 16 shots, including 6 shots on end 7, putting them in the lead with a score of 22 – 6 at the tenth end. Both teams scored a further 7 shots each over the last eight ends with Billericay keeping their very healthy lead throughout.

Final Score: Billericay 29 – Gt Baddow 13

An amazing game ladies! You all played brilliantly and deserved the win!

Ladies’ Chelmer Report Wednesday 21st July 2025

Billericay  v  Writtle A  AWAY

Team 1 Michelle Dixon, Tracy Kinton, Lynn Martin

A good solid start by Billericay giving them a 4 point lead after seven ends.  They continued to play very well and at the end of the 10th end the score was 12 – 6 to Billericay. Confidence and accuracy was high and the team continued their great play scoring a further 28 shots over the next eight ends to win the game.

Final score:  Billericay  40 – Writtle 8

You all played extremely well as a team Ladies’. Congratulations!

 

Team 2  Christine Shrubb, Jenny Hyland, Val Dalton

A slow start for the ladies’ and after ten ends the score was Billericay 5 – Writtle 13. Billericay needed to dig deep and keep their nerve which they did and a further 4 shots  were scored on the 12th end to narrow the gap. Billericay were in the lead by one shot leading into the last end but Writtle A scored 1 shot to end the game in a draw.

Final Score: Billericay 18 – Writtle A 18

A very good comeback ladies, a well deserved draw.

 

Ladies’ Chelmer Report Wednesday 2nd July 2025

Team 1 Maureen, Edith, Lynn

A steady start with low scoring by both teams. The score at the 10th end 7 – 7. Billericay then struggled and Lionmede took advantage, 7 – 17 after fifteen ends. Billericay did their best and scored another shot on the 16th end but could not catch up against a stronger team. Lionmede followed that with 4 more shots to win the game.

Final Score: Billericay 8 – Lionmede 21

Thank you Ladies, it was not easy.

Team 2 Christine Shrubb, Tracey, Michelle

Steady play by both teams initially. Billericay 3 – Lionmede 8 after seven ends. We won the next five ends, score now 8 – 8. Billericay scored a further 3 shots and Lionmede 6 shots, Billericay 11 – Lionmede 14. The ladies’ held their nerve going into the last end and won 3 more shots to finish with a draw.

Final Score: Billericay 14 – Lionmede 14

Ladies’ Chelmer Report Monday 30th June 2025

Home to Writtle B

Prior to the beginning of the game it was agreed between both stewards that due to the excessive heat the match would be played to 12 ends.

Team 1. Sue Sarbutt, Tracy Kinton Jenny Hyland.

The opposition took four shots over the first 2 ends. Billericay then won the next end with 2 shots but was no stopping Writtle and they held their lead to reach 2 -13 by the seventh end. Billericay took the next end but Writtle continued their good play and won the match.

Thank you ladies for keeping going under extremely hot conditions.

Final Score: Billericay 3 – Writtle B 20

Team 2. Penny Kirby, Gill Aggio, Lynn Martin

Billericay started well taking the first end by 1 shot. Play continued consistently then the opposition scored a total of 5 shots to take them in the lead at 4 – 9. Billericay gained a further 3 shots to reach 7:12 after 11 ends. Writtle B were five shots ahead going into the last end but Billericay won 5 shots to end the game with a draw 12:12.

Ladies thank you for not giving up.

Ladies’ Chelmer report Monday 16th June 2025

 

Rink 3

Marion, Sandra, Lynn

Team 1 started well, winning 5 shots on the 2nd end, 2 shots on the third and 2 shots on the 5th end giving them the lead. Score 9 – 3 to Billericay. A great start for our ladies’. Maldon was not to be beaten and followed by winning 12 shots over the next 7 ends, thus taking back the lead. Score Billericay 9 – Maldon 15. Billericay gained 3 more shots on the 13th end to narrow the score to 12 – 15. This game was constantly changing with both teams giving their all. Maldon won the next 3 ends adding a further 6 shots to bring their score to 21 with a 6 shot lead. Billericay did not give up, claiming 2 further shots on the 17th end to bring their score to 14. The final end, it was a lot to ask of Billericay and they gave their all. Unfortunately it was not meant to be. Maldon scored a further shot, winning the game.

Rink 4

Sue Sarbutt, Michelle Dixon, Jean Lawrence

The game started with an important 2 shots to Billericay on the 1st end. This followed with Maldon scoring 12 shots over the next 4 ends. Score Billericay 2 - Maldon 12. Our ladies’ were not fazed, kept their focus and had a great run scoring a further 8 shots to make the score at the 10th end Billericay 10 – Maldon 12. The gap had narrowed significantly! A cat and mouse game ensued. A further 6 shots to Maldon on ends 11 and 12 followed by 5 more shots to Billericay on ends 13 and 14 brought the score to Billericay 15 – Maldon 18. An exciting battle was taking place! There were just 4 more ends to play and very little between the teams. Billericay were not giving up but only gained 1 more shot against Malden’s 7 shots over the last four ends.

Final Score Billericay 16 – Maldon 25

Ladies Chelmer Report Wednesday 31st May 2025

Billericay away to Falcon

Rink 2 Team 1 Catherine, Edith Michelle

A pleasant sunny start with Falcon taking the lead after winning the first three ends. Score 0 -5. Billericay came back with 1 shot on the next end, the boost that they needed. Confidence was growing and they then won 3 shots on the 7th end and another 2 shots on end 8 to narrow the score to 6 – 7. Unfortunately Falcon then took 5 shots on the 10th end to go ahead 6 – 13. Team 1 played very well to make a comeback over the next 5 ends winning 6 shots bringing the score to Billericay 12 Falcon 15. There were just 3 ends left to play and Billericay were not giving up. They gave their best but Falcon were on a roll and scored 7 shots on the last 3 ends.

Final score: Billericay 12 – Falcon 22

Ladies you played very well and kept battling to the end. Thank you

Rink 2 Team 2 Helen, Sandra, Lynn

A low scoring start to the match from both teams but after 9 ends Billericay were leading 7 – 6. Falcon then scored 4 shots on the 10th end to take the lead 7 – 10. Billericay continued their consistent play winning a further 5 ends which took them back into the lead at end 16 with the score now Billericay 12 - Falcon 11. There was determination and tension in the air. Falcon fought back to equal the score to 12 – 12 on the 17th end but Billericay rose to the challenge and won 5 shots on the 18th end to win the game.

Final score: Billericay 17 – Falcon 12

What a game Ladies! You all kept your focus played really well together and fully deserved the win. Well done.

HOME TO RHP 28th MAY 2025

Team 1  Rink 3

Lead Michelle, 3 Edith, Skip Jean

It was a slow start for Billericay and the opponents took advantage and were leading by 13-1 at the ninth end. Our ladies kept strong and focused and began to find their game which continued during the second half of the match by scoring eight more shots in the last nine ends. The opposition did not falter but managed to win anothern 6 shots to end with a score of 22.

Final score: Billericay 9 - RHP 22

Well  done Ladies for not giving up. I appreciate your commitment.

Team 2  Rink 4

Lead Christine Friend, 3 Sue Sarbutt, Skip Lynn Martin

Billericay won the first 2 ends and then the opposition won 6 shots on the next two ends to take them into the lead. Billericay kept focused and went into the lead again winning the next four ends making the score after eight ends Billericay 10-RHP 6. The game continued like cat and mouse with both teams scoring low on the final five ends. At the 17th  end the score was tied14-14. On the final end RHP won 1 shot to win the match.

Well done Ladies a disappointment but be proud of yourselves.
